- heading Multi-Lam, Anti-Slip Teak Decking
- Content Although teak is the ultimate element-resistant wood, high cost and short lengths traditionally make teak an uncommon choice for decking. With a little outside-the-box construction, our HHF teak decking becomes the dream deck. Starting with a traditional teak glue-lam, sawn panels from the same log are meticulously end-grain matched, creating the illusion of a single continuous piece of teak decking up to 4 meters in length.

- heading Flat wood is just plain, boring and unnatural
- Content Our hand-worked floor textures add a new dimension to wood flooring. Specializing in textured wood, nobody does it better. Whether it’s a subtle, anti-slip texture on our decking or our super sexy rain-washed floors, our textures are the result of more than 22 years working with teak. We create the following textures: Hand-Hewn—The sculpted floors are hand-hewn with a traditional village adze. Different traditional adzes and methods are used to produce the balanced appearance. Linear Planed—Modified hand planes give a long, drawn look. Rain-Washed—This natural look is the result of removing the soft growth rings, leaving the harder growth rings dramatically raised and accented. This technique enhances the natural texture, grain pattern and character of teak, resulting in a finish reminiscent of time and rain worn timber. We are happy to create custom textures.
- heading2 Doors that make a statement and don't move
- Content2 These solid-timber teak doors are created using glulam, multi-layered and cross-ply laminated stiles engineered to ensure stability. This completely eliminates the twisting and cracking that plagues solid wood doors. From arched doors and jams to ten-foot entry doors, multi-lam doors are the strongest, most durable doors made. Using the same hand-hewn textures as our flooring, they make a great contribution to any room.

- heading Eco Friendly and Sustainable
- Content Tectona Grandis /Teak was introduced to Indonesia by Dutch and Chinese traders over 400 years ago. Because of teak’s non-indigenous or non-native species classification, cutting teak trees in Indonesia is considered harvesting a planted, introduced crop. It also only grows in dry, well-drained soil on the dry side of islands, not in rain forests. All floors are either three layers of teak or use ultra-eco-friendly, farm-raised Albasia Falcata, the fast growing superstar of cultivated timbers for the core and ply. Precision milling also creates higher yields and less waste. Recycled timbers are available upon request.
- heading2 Natural Tung Oil…in the wood not “on” the wood
- Content2 When exposed to oxygen, non-toxic, natural tung oil transforms from a monomer to a polymer, creating a strong protective barrier that will not flake or peel off. Our tung oil is thinned with mineral sprits, rubbed into the wood and then left to absorb for 20 minutes. It is then wiped clean and left overnight to convert. This is repeated for 4 or 5 days until the wood is completely saturated. This penetration creates a protective barrier inside the wood’s fibers and produces a finish unmatched by surface seals and finishes. The feeling on your bare feet and the aesthetic appearance of an oiled wood floor is unrivalled. You are touching a very hard and durable wood and not a layer of plastic. Natural oils allow the wood to develop a patina that only natural aging produces. Oiled floors are environmentally sound and simple to maintain. An added advantage is the ability to refinish high traffic areas without having to refinish an entire room, as you must with polyurethane-finished floors. Avoiding sanding the floor for maintenance also has an obvious commercial benefit of no mess and no downtime.

- heading Welcome to Hand Hewn Floors
- Content After 18 years of building handmade teak furniture in Indonesia, designer Dennis Linkletter turned his attention to crafting floors with the same unique textures that were his trademark. Hand-Hewn Floors was created for discriminating designers, owners and builders who are looking for old world craftsmanship, produced with modern technology for consistency and durability. Though wood floors are traditionally flat, our hand-worked textures add a new dimension to wood flooring. They are not only beautiful, but also almost maintenance free. The inevitable nicks and scratches, which ruin other floors, actually add beauty and compliment our floors’ timeworn look.
